Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRC), Delhi

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRC), a milestone in infrastructure development in Delhi NCR and various cities, has given Blue Star an order for electro-mechanical works of 5 underground stations that come under Line No. 8 of DMRC at Botanical Garden in Janakpuri West. The project, valued at Rs. 152 crores, includes design verification, detail engineering, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of electrical & mechanical systems, including fire & hydraulic systems for underground stations of DMRC Phase III.

DMRC has commissioned and is running various lines in two separate phases. DMRC has been given responsibility of starting metro operations outside NCR as well, in Jaipur and several other cities. Currently, DMRC has initiated its third phase of operations for the underground stations.

DMRC has received an ODA loan from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for an amount of 127917 Million Yen towards a part contract for the DMRC project, Phase III of Delhi Mass Rapid Transport System and intends to apply a portion of the proceeds of the loan to payments under this contract.

The service consultant for this project is Ayesa from Delhi and the civil contractors are L&T and Pratibha.

GIFT, Gujarat

Blue Star has booked an integrated MEP order valued at Rs. 13 crores for tunnel works at Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT) in Gujarat. Gujarat International Finance Tec-City Company Limited (GIFTCL) is a joint venture between the Government of Gujarat (GOG) through its undertaking, Gujarat Urban Development Company Limited (GUDCOL) and Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services (IL&FS), to develop and implement the GIFT project. GIFTCL proposes to implement GIFT as a globally benchmarked international finance city with a built-up area of 85,000,000 sq ft.

Blue Star has executed two other projects for GIFT, and the positive past experience prompted the customer to award this project as well. The electrical scope consists of supply, installation, testing and commissioning of HT compact sub station, distribution boards, cables, trays, power & lighting distribution in the tunnel (2.9 km long), earthing, wiring, fire alarm, access control, rodent control & SCADA. The ventilation scope of the project includes supply, installation, testing and commissioning of ventilation fans and associated piping, ducting and insulation works, sensors, motorised smoke dampers, PLC as well as starter panels. The fire-fighting scope comprises supply, installation, testing and commissioning of fire pumps, panels, GI piping, valves, cables, fire equipment and fire extinguishers.

Tata Consulting Engineers Ltd from Mumbai is the consultant for the project.

BTPP, Andhra Pradesh

Blue Star has been awarded an order valued at Rs. 11 crores by Abir Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd. towards HVAC works for a proposed 2 x 660 MW Bhavanapadu Thermal Coal-Based Power Plant (BTPP) - Phase I at Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh.

The BTPP project is being developed by East Coast Energy Pvt. Ltd. (ECEPL) near Kakarapalli village in Srikakulam district, Andhra Pradesh. The plant is to be developed in two phases with a total generation capacity of 2640 MW. Each phase is planned with a capacity of 1320 MW comprising two units of 660 MW.

The scope of the project includes HVAC works comprising supply, installation, testing and commissioning of two 150 TR vapour absorption chillers, one 150 TR screw chiller, associated pumps, cooling towers, AHUs, air distribution, piping works, electrical panels & PLC system.

Blue Star was earlier associated with this client for HVAC works for their Singhitarai power project at Chhattisgarh.

Bangalore Metro’s Phase 2, Bengaluru

Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), a joint venture of Government of India and Government of Karnataka, is a Special Purpose Vehicle entrusted with the responsibility for implementation and operation of Bangalore Metro Rail Project.

Blue Star has won the Electrical and Mechanical (E&M) works for seven underground stations including associated tunnel sections in Bangalore Metro’s Phase 2. This is the third order awarded to Blue Star in FY23 from BMRCL.

The Consultant for this project is AECOM.

Blue Star received this order worth Rs 184.54 crores for E&M works including Electrical, Plumbing and Fire Fighting.

The scope of the order includes 300 panels, 290 DBs, 200 km of LT cables, 57 km of trays, 13,000 light fixtures, 12 DG sets of 910 kVA capacity, 2 DG sets of 1010 kVA capacity, 14 modular UPS of 2x60 kVA capacity, 70 pumps for fire fighting and plumbing, 35 km of piping, and 4350 detectors.

Since these are underground stations, a majority of the work will be within the tunnels, and such work poses its own challenges. The manpower requirement will be high due to the large quantum of piping and cabling. Blue Star is accustomed to such operations and is confident of tackling these challenges and completing operations within stipulated timelines.

Blue Star’s track record of successful metro projects is the result of the Company’s commitment to quality and safety, as well as its ability to obtain stakeholder approvals speedily and to recruit skilled professionals. The Company will overcome the challenges posed by tunneling work in underground station construction by using advanced tunneling technologies like prefabricating piping and support structure work and strategically allocating manpower resources. This minimises the need for extensive manual labour and on-site assemblies, increases efficiency and accuracy, and ensures completion of work within the stipulated timelines while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

 

Water Supply Project, Madhya Pradesh

Blue Star has secured a significant project from Madhya Pradesh Jal Nigam Maryadit with the aim of providing water supply to 324 villages in the Dewas district. Valued at Rs 541 crores, this turnkey contract involves designing, building, and maintaining water infrastructure for a decade. While Blue Star anticipates challenges in execution, it draws on its extensive experience in collaborating with government departments, remaining confident in overcoming these obstacles.

The project, titled ‘Khategaon Kannod, Dewas Scheme (MVS) Rural Piped Water Supply Project,’ is crucial for providing drinking water to 324 villages in Khategaon and Kannod regions of Madhya Pradesh. This first-time order in the state of Madhya Pradesh for Blue Star encompasses a comprehensive two-part contract, covering Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Testing, Commissioning, Trial Run, and Operation and Maintenance of various project components.

The detailed scope involves constructing 917 km of ductile iron pipeline, 425 km of HDPE pipeline, 36 km of MS pipeline, a 50.7 million litres per day (MLD) water treatment plant, 19,556 house tap connections, 82 elevated storage reservoirs, a 66.03 MLD intake well, pumps, transformers, electrical power transmission, and instrumentation and SCADA systems.

Despite expecting challenges in securing timely approvals and ensuring the availability of necessary pipes, Blue Star is confident in its ability to deliver the project on schedule. This confidence stems from its proficiency in procurement logistics and prior experience with Government departments.

By prioritising flawless project execution and ensuring uninterrupted water supply to all villages, Blue Star aims to set a benchmark for future water projects. Successfully completing this endeavour will pave the way for more impactful water initiatives in the future.
